About The Position

Each summer UW-Madison hosts several youth camps. UHS is seeking registered nurses to join us in supporting the youth camp programming at UW-Madison, mid-May 2026 through August 2026. The Youth Camp Nurse position works as part of a health care team to support the wellness of minors participating in residential (overnight) camps on the UW Madison campus. Supporting the campers, interacting with campus partners and perhaps interacting with camper's families/guardians, Youth Camp Nurses help create a memorable experience for campers. This position is posted at 32- 40 hours per week, as time can fluctuate due to operational needs and programs in session. A single day of orientation will occur between April 23 rd and May 21 st , 202 6 . Youth Camps run from early June through early August. A required in-person HR orientation must be attended on one of the following dates: April 22nd; 1pm-9pm | May 6th; 9am-5pm | May 20; 1pm-9pm Additional Information: Applicants must be available for department training during the first week of June. Holidays (4th of July) and rotating weekends are . Due to camp needs, no time off requests can be granted June 28 through July 2. Successful applicants are responsible for ensuring their eligibility to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the United States, a lawful permanent resident, a foreign national authorized to work in the United States without need of employer sponsorship) on or before the effective date of appointment. UHS is part of Student Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, led by the vice chancellor for student affairs. Requirements

  • Proficient in medication administration and documentation
  • Knowledgeable in needs of pediatric and adolescent population
  • Competency with computers
  • Ability to communicate effectively with campers and staff
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates current care plans, completes assessments, develops specialized treatment plans, documents medical activity, and analyzes patient data and results to help diagnosis and treat illnesses and diseases
  • May provide expertise, training, and guidance to the community, peers, and/or students
  • Provides care to individuals within a specialized area of medicine to ensure physical and mental well-being
  • Educates patients and their support systems on how to manage conditions and to promote the health and well-being of patients and those around them
  • Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders
  • Participates in medical research as needed in collaboration with medical professionals and internal and external stakeholders
