About The Position

Associated Students Inc., CSUF provides student development opportunities through leadership, volunteer, and employment experiences. In addition, the Associated Students provides campus community members with important social, cultural, and recreational opportunities, as well as, a wide range of programs and services. Under limited supervision, Lead Camp Counselors engage campers in daily activities, act as role models, and carry out the day-to-day operations of the Titan Youth Summer Camp. Please note, camp will be closed for July 4th.

Requirements

  • Must be a currently enrolled California State University Fullerton student in good academic standing and complete a LiveScan screening.
  • Must complete: Bloodborne Pathogens Campus Health and Safety Requirements CSU’S Discrimination Harassment Prevention Program Data Security and FERPA Gender Equity and Title IX Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) First Aid/CPR/AED CA Mandated Reporter of Child Abuse TB Test within 30 days of hire
  • This position requires standing for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift, lower, push and pull loads ranging in weight from 5-35 lbs
  • Must be able to carry loads ranging from 5-35 lbs for distances up to 20ft

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Intramural and Camp Coordinator with programming, planning, and preparation of Titan Youth Summer Camp.
  • Assists the Intramural and Camp Coordinator by overseeing Camp Counselors, Program Assistants, CIT, and delivering youth activities and programs for minors ages 4 to 12.
  • Assists with leading day-to-day camp operations, including opening and closing procedures, organizing activities, coordinating snacks/lunches, and addressing parental concerns as needed.
  • Review setup for daily activities with Program Assistants to ensure all activity spaces are set up accordingly.
  • Assist in the hiring process and training of TYSC student staff.
  • Assists the Intramural and Camp Coordinator in leading weekly staff meetings.
  • Remains alert for the safety of participants at all times
  • Assists the Intramural and Camp Coordinator with camper behavioral challenges.
  • Assists in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance.
  • Knows, enforces and follows all emergency procedures and safety guidelines associated with the camp program, including knowing the whereabouts of your charges at all times.
  • Responsible for promoting a safe and fun environment for campers by adhering to and enforcing the policies and procedures of the University, the Associated Students Inc., CSUF, and ASI Titan Recreation.
  • Maintains a high standard of customer service.
  • Reports basic concerns to Intramural and Camp Coordinator. Incidents, resolutions, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with various A.S. and University departments
  • Ensures all operations are conducted with safety of staff and customers as first priority, and in accordance with the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan and other safety policies.
  • Reports accidents to supervisor and reviews changes required to avoid reoccurrence.
  • Reports maintenance problems and/or broken and unsafe equipment to the appropriate party or supervisor immediately
