About The Position

Ryan Companies seeks a Yard Manager to support our commercial construction operations. The Yard Manager is responsible for providing support to the Field Staff/Superintendent by ensuring all tools and equipment are maintained, controlled, and accounted for. This position reports to the Regional Field Coordinator, and may receive direction from the Field Staff/Superintendents on daily tasks in support of construction operation. Some things you can expect to do: Ensure team members understand what is expected of them and hold them accountable for performance, provide regular feedback and have development conversations, delegate appropriate tasks and provide timely and meaningful recognition. Tool Accountability: Purchase tools, equipment, and materials as needed .Issue/Assign tools as needed. Deliver tools for repair and maintain tools in good working condition. Maintain accountability of tool inventory. Preform minor preventive Maintenance on all power tools / equipment. Repair tools, equipment, and power cords as needed. Administrative responsibilities: Keep a Shop inventory of all excess supplies/material. Maintain equipment database and post tool transfers to sites. Prepare Monthly invoice of tools and equipment for monthly billing. Payroll time entry. Archives – move project files, drawings, plans, etc. to archives and maintain. General Upkeep: Routine Shop/Office/Parking Lot clean-up, snow removal and mowing. Upkeep of Storage Yard – organize and maintain excess supplies. Vehicle/equipment upkeep – wash shop vehicle, equipment, trailers, etc… as needed. Maintain building (light bulbs, filters, faucets, etc…). Deliver materials and supplies to project sites. Set up company office trailers at job sites. Manage yard MSDS Manual and materials.

Requirements

  • High School or Equivalent
  • Knowledge of Hand Tools and Power Tools
  • Ability to perform minor repairs to electric cords and power tools
  • Knowledge of and ability to use a computer and maintain Tool Inventory/Location database
  • Ability to drive a truck with a manual transmission
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks, manage your time, and lead by example
  • Must have a satisfactory driving record with a class B or C license
  • Computer experience with MS Office is needed

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a tool room/warehouse setting preferred but not required
