About The Position
The X-Ray Technician plays a critical role in the healthcare team by performing diagnostic imaging examinations that assist physicians in diagnosing and treating medical conditions. This position requires the operation of sophisticated radiographic equipment to capture high-quality images of patients' internal structures while ensuring patient safety and comfort. The X-Ray Tech must adhere to strict protocols to minimize radiation exposure and maintain compliance with health and safety regulations. Requirements
- Completion of an accredited radiologic technology program.
- Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent.
- Valid state licensure to practice as an X-Ray Technician in the United States.
- Strong understanding of radiographic procedures, anatomy, and radiation safety principles.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with digital radiography and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).
- Additional certifications in specialized imaging techniques such as CT or MRI.
- Prior experience working in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Basic life support (BLS) or CPR certification.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and position patients correctly to obtain the required radiographic images.
- Operate X-ray equipment to capture images of bones, tissues, and organs as requested by physicians.
- Ensure patient safety by following radiation protection guidelines and using shielding devices when necessary.
- Maintain accurate patient records, imaging logs, and documentation of procedures performed.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to review images for quality and assist in further diagnostic procedures if needed.
- Perform routine maintenance and quality control checks on radiographic equipment to ensure optimal functioning.
- Educate patients about the imaging process and address any concerns to alleviate anxiety.
- Adhere to all healthcare regulations, privacy laws, and institutional policies related to radiology services.
