A WWW Utility Meter Technician I learns to perform a variety of routine manual labor regarding water meter activities for residential properties. The work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities. Incumbents receive close supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek; overtime may be required in emergencies. This is a high-volume, production work environment. Work is performed outdoors where incumbents are regularly exposed to extremes of weather, dust, dirt, dogs and vermin and may be exposed to irate or hostile citizens. Work requires periods of prolonged standing and repetitive bending and stooping to loosen and lift water meters and covers.
