Work of this class involves leading warehouse staff, but does not involve full supervisory duties or responsibilities. Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek. Work is performed in a warehouse where there is exposure to cold and heat. Work requires some bending, lifting, pushing and hauling heavy stock items.

Requirements

  • Have graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.
  • Have two years of experience in storing and issuing equipment and supplies.
  • Some positions in this class may require a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or equivalent out-of-state driver's license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management.
  • Knowledge of the procedures for receiving, storing and shipping materials and supplies.
  • Knowledge of the methods and procedures of taking inventory.
  • Ability to operate materials handling equipment.
  • Ability to utilize standard business computer software programs and the internet to perform routine research and to enter and maintain inventory and distribution of records.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, City agency personnel and associates.
  • Ability to maintain simple stock records.
  • Ability to assign and review the work of others.
