About The Position

A WWW Radio Dispatcher II ensures prompt response by repair crews or emergency vehicles by utilizing a two-way base radio, telephone and related communications equipment to resolve citizen complaints or calls for assistance. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities. Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a rotating shift to provide 24-hour coverage, seven days a week. Work is performed in an office setting where the employee seldom encounters uncomfortable environmental or hazardous working conditions. Work requires moderate physical exertion.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.
  • Have three years of experience in operating a two-way base radio and related communications equipment.
  • Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Some positions in this class may require a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license, or an equivalent out-of-state driver's license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management is required.
  • Knowledge of Federal Communications Commission rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of City street locations.
  • Skill in the operation of two-way base radios and related communications equipment.
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to read maps.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to perform under high stress situations.
  • Ability to maintain records.
