About The Position

Cherokee Federal is seeking a Protestant Worship Service Music Director to support the Chaplain Corps at Sheppard Air Force Base (SAFB), TX. The Chaplain Corps provides spiritual care and religious services to Airmen, their families, and base personnel in a multi-faith environment. The selected candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading music for weekly worship services and special religious events. The ideal candidate will have experience leading worship music, coordinating musicians, and working in a structured and diverse environment.

Requirements

  • Experience leading worship music and coordinating musicians
  • Ability to play piano and/or lead vocally
  • Ability to read music or chord charts
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Minimum 1+ year of relevant worship leadership experience
  • Must be a practicing member of the applicable faith tradition
  • Reference letter from a religious leader or equivalent required
  • Ability to provide substitute coverage when unavailable
  • Must pass background screening in accordance with Department of Defense requirements
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and special events
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience supporting church or military worship services preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or relevant experience in lieu of degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and perform music for weekly worship services and rehearsals
  • Lead choirs, praise teams, and volunteer musicians in support of worship services
  • Select and coordinate appropriate music in collaboration with Chaplain leadership
  • Support special services, religious holidays, and events as required
  • Conduct weekly rehearsals and ensure musicians are prepared for services
  • Arrive prior to services for setup and preparation and restore the space after services
  • Maintain and ensure proper use of musical equipment and worship facilities
  • Recruit and coordinate volunteer musicians and choir members
  • Maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times
  • Submit records of services performed for validation and processing Performs other job-related duties as assigned
