About The Position

Resurrection has an opening for a Worship Experience Specialist and Location Coordinating Assistant in the Locations and Ministries & Programs division! The position is full-time, exempt and is located at our Blue Springs location at 601 NE Jefferson St., Blue Springs, MO 64014.The Worship Experience Specialist is the church’s location leader responsible for creating a meaningful worship experience that guides our guests and existing members on their journey to become deeply committed Christians. As a member of the Worship Team, the location Worship Experience Specialist will steer all logistics related to weekend worship, ensuring that every person who attends worship has an exceptional experience. Weekend worship responsibilities consist of leading the ministries of Holy Communion and Guest Connections, including the management of Greeters and Ushers, Parking teams, Info Desk, Medical Team, Hospitality teams and others supporting first impressions and the guest experience related to worship. The location Worship Experience Specialist is also responsible for key administrative aspects of the location, such as guest follow-up and the coordination of worship volunteers for Sanctuary events, including Baptisms and Holy Communion. This position also serves as the Coordinating Assistant for the location, providing administrative support to the Location Pastor and helping manage daily operations. This position is also a member of the church-wide Administrative Professional team, which supports the development of administrative professionals across the organization, with a focus on skills, cross-training, use of technology tools, and cross-divisional collaboration.

Requirements

  • Positive and professional communication skills with strong acumen for working with a wide variety of people.
  • Proficient computer skills, especially with MS Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Data management expertise through database maintenance and reporting.
  • Aptitude working with web content management software.
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
  • Understanding of the theology and traditions of the United Methodist Church, particularly as it pertains to the sacraments of Communion and Baptism.
  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull 50lbs., stand for long periods of time and walk extensively during worship services.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site Staff leader in Worship Experience for all worship services.
  • Provide holistic leadership, training, and support to all Worship Experience/Guest Connection Teams
  • Manage volunteer schedules and ensure adequate coverage for all services.
  • Build effective teams, identifying high-capacity leaders and equipping people for ministry.
  • Ministry assessment and performance evaluation, goal setting, mentoring, spiritual encouragement, support, and conflict resolution.
  • Prepare for and conduct team meetings, trainings, and celebration/recognition events.
  • Lead logistical planning and implementation of worship elements in weekly worship and special events that are theologically consistent with the United Methodist Church.
  • Including special worship events and liturgical holidays. Examples: Communion, Acolytes, Baptism, Anointing, Ash Imposition, processionals, recessionals, remembrance of baptism.
  • Oversee logistics for the sacrament of Communion.
  • Sets up Sanctuary for Communion each month, ensuring altar is set according to Pastor preference.
  • Lead volunteers as staff person on-site during communion services each month, ensuring Communion is delivered in ways that are theologically consistent with the United Methodist Church.
  • Manage logistics of special worship-related handouts or sermon series promotional items, i.e., magnets, special worship handouts, etc.
  • In collaboration with the Worship Experience Team provide timely oversight of first-time guest follow up practices as well as other member and guest communications relating to the worship experience including location specific online platforms.
  • Maintain a functional and reverent aesthetic in all worship spaces.
  • Seasonally, work with RXP, Worship, and contracted florists/interior designers to support the development and implementation of a décor scheme that enhances the worship experience during holidays and in accordance with the liturgical calendar, i.e., Lent, Maundy Thursday, Easter, Advent, Christmas.
  • Recruit and provide leadership to volunteer teams or contractors assigned to implement this plan.
  • Coordinate logistics of large-scale worship services such as Candlelight Christmas Eve and Easter, including recruiting and equipping additional volunteers for these larger special services.
  • Attend Worship Experience and Location-specific team meetings, All-Staff meetings, etc.
  • Professionally represent the location and the staff team, including providing reception for guests and serving as an initial point of contact with inquiring congregants and visitors, answering questions and routing phone calls during business hours.
  • Collaborate and submit various communications requests (including loop slides, newsletters, worship announcements, location web page and physical signage) with both Location leadership and Resurrection Experience division, including completing Resurrection Experience forms as needed.
  • Maintain calendars for the Location Pastor and the ministry team, exercising professional discretion in scheduling appointments, meetings, and events.
  • Provide support for operational matters related to the office and daily business, including working with the Director of Operations to support events at the location by purchasing, ordering and managing supplies when needed. (example: Blood Drives on site)
  • Maintain Rock database and registrations, as needed.
  • Support the oversight of the team budgets and expenses, including purchasing, expense reports and reimbursements, invoices, contractual arrangements and budget planning.
  • Manage and respond to incoming correspondence. Receive, distribute and notify staff of deliveries by congregants, shipping carriers, the mailbox and weekly courier.
  • Coordinate membership events by preparing materials, sending invitations and preparing a new member list for the staff for follow-up connections.
  • Connect the Location Pastor with third-time visitors and fifth-time visitors.
  • Assist with event decorations and handouts as needed.
  • Assist as needed with facility operations, including requesting or meeting repair people and submitting all facilities work order requests, including alarm access and key card requests.
  • Work alongside the pastor with Donor Development and Stewardship campaigns, providing administrative support as needed.
  • Manage the location baptism calendar and collaborate with the churchwide baptism coordinator, schedule 1:1 appointment with the pastor and receive baptism certificates for the pastor to sign and give to the family.
  • Provide funeral and wedding support and preparation as needed, including creating bulletins and off-site wedding invoicing.
  • Assist and provide support for Blue Springs Location events, which may happen on nights or weekends, as needed.
  • Assist as needed with facility operations, including requesting or meeting repair people and assisting the facilities staff as needed.
  • General administrative support, and other duties as assigned.
