Position Objective: The Workshop Technician is to assist in the repairing, maintaining, assembling, receiving, storing, issuing, and delivering of equipment, tools, and supplies, maintaining inventory control and record keeping. This position can understand the workshop process in addition to all safety considerations, identify all applicable equipment, parts, and ratings, and maintain awareness of the workshop operations . I. Duties Interface with workshop personnel and perform hands-on troubleshooting/assessment, maintenance, testing (pre/post), and/or repair of wind turbine gearboxes, main shafts, and other equipment. Perform gearbox load testing utilizing certified test equipment and complete all QA / QC documentation as required by the QHSE program (if skilled). Perform hands-on workshop assembly, disassembly, inspection, reporting, cleaning, and reassembly of gearboxes, main shafts, and other equipment. Ensure that work and used materials follow manufacturer specifications. Read and interpret schematics for assembly, repair, and reassembly as required, including completion of applicable quality documentation in either paper or electronic form. Perform failure assessments and make recommendations to the workshop supervisor as required. Perform day-to-day and routine safety observations and inspections. II. Technical and Administrative Competencies Performs assembly, disassembly, inspection, cleaning, and reassembly of wind turbine gearboxes and main shafts as part of the workshop team Carries out basic troubleshooting, maintenance, testing, and repair tasks following established workshop procedures. Reads and follows mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical instructions for assembly and repair work. Performs inspections and basic failure assessments and reports findings to the workshop supervisor. Ensures work is completed according to manufacturer specifications and internal guidelines. Supports gearbox load testing activities and completes required QA/QC documentation when trained. Completes quality and technical documentation using paper or electronic formats as required. Applies basic industrial maintenance knowledge when working with mechanical components and equipment. Demonstrates general knowledge of workshop operations, including material handling and equipment identification. Operates forklifts, cranes, and heavy equipment following safety procedures and required authorisations. Uses Microsoft Office for basic documentation and record keeping. Follows safety rules and QHSE procedures and participates in routine safety inspections. III. Personal Competences: Works collaboratively with other workshop personnel to support team objectives and daily operational activities. Demonstrates a practical level of self-sufficiency, completing assigned tasks with limited supervision and seeking guidance when needed. Can work independently on defined tasks while adhering to established procedures and safety requirements. Shows consistent attention to quality when performing assigned work, ensuring tasks are completed according to specifications. Follows planning and organisation guidelines provided by supervisors to manage daily tasks and priorities effectively.
