About The Position

The Digital Literacy & Professional Skills Instructor delivers engaging, accessible, and trauma-informed instruction that prepares participants for success in today’s workforce. This role provides foundational to intermediate digital literacy training, introduces essential workplace technologies, and facilitates professional skills development that supports long-term employment readiness particularly for healthcare-adjacent and entry-level professional roles. The instructor creates an inclusive learning environment that honors diverse learning styles, promotes confidence, and removes barriers to access. Working collaboratively with program team members, this role supports participant readiness through instruction, coaching, progress tracking, and continuous curriculum improvement.

Requirements

  • Experience teaching adult learners, facilitating workforce training, or providing educational instruction preferred.
  • Strong digital proficiency and comfort with common workplace technologies.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; postsecondary education or certifications preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to create inclusive, trauma-informed, and learner-centered environments.
  • Must pass required background checks in accordance with organizational and funder requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with healthcare or human services work environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Digital Literacy Instruction
  • Deliver curriculum covering foundational to intermediate digital skills, including: Computer and device fundamentals Keyboarding, navigation, and file management Email setup, etiquette, and professional communication Internet safety, privacy, and online navigation Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace applications Online job search tools and application platforms Introductory exposure to healthcare-related digital systems, as applicable
  • Facilitate hands-on learning through demonstrations, guided practice, small-group instruction, and individualized support.
  • Adapt instructional strategies to accommodate varying skill levels, learning styles, and accessibility needs.
  • Professional & Workplace Skills Development
  • Facilitate workshops and learning sessions focused on: Professional communication and customer service Time management, reliability, and workplace accountability Professionalism, boundaries, and workplace expectations Teamwork, collaboration, and conflict resolution Critical thinking, problem-solving, and adaptability Self-management and personal responsibility
  • Introduce foundational norms and expectations common to healthcare and service-oriented work environments.
  • Program Support & Collaboration
  • Assist with curriculum development, refinement, and evaluation to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
  • Track participant attendance, engagement, and progress; maintain accurate instructional records as required.
  • Coordinate with program team members to support participant readiness and alignment with individualized goals.
  • Help maintain a safe, organized, and functional technology lab and learning environment.
  • Represent programmatic educational offerings professionally to internal and external partners as requested.
  • Training Coordination & Community Partnerships
  • Develop and maintain an annual and quarterly training calendar that outlines digital literacy, professional skills, and workforce readiness classes available to participants.
  • Collaborate with the reStart Inc. Training Team to coordinate classroom scheduling, room usage, and technology needs to ensure effective learning environments and efficient use of organizational space.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with external community organizations, educational providers, and workforce partners to bring additional skill-building classes and learning opportunities to participants.
  • Support the coordination of special workshops, guest instructors, and collaborative training opportunities that enhance participant employment readiness.
  • Maintain flexibility to support evening or weekend training sessions, workshops, or special programming when needed to increase participant access and program effectiveness.
