THE ROLE AMD is seeking a strategic Workforce Planning Skills Manager to lead the enterprise-wide rollout of AMD’s skills management strategy. This role will drive the development and implementation of a scalable skills framework, including mapping, validation, and integration across all business units. Leveraging technology and data analytics is key to this role, along with driving change management initiatives that foster organizational growth THE PERSON The ideal candidate will be a proactive collaborator with deep expertise in workforce planning, skills intelligence, and cross-functional program delivery. You are entrepreneurial, highly visible, and ready to take on a greenfield challenge—building and scaling skills management capabilities that support AMD’s global growth and leadership needs.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise in workforce planning, skills strategy, or talent analytics.
  • Proven experience implementing enterprise-wide skills frameworks.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and skills management and workforce planning platforms (e.g., TechWolf, SAP).
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy comprehensive skills mapping and validation framework across AMD
  • Develop and maintain a skills taxonomy aligned with AMD’s strategic workforce goals
  • Ensure consistency and scalability of the framework across global teams
  • Partner with business leaders and SMEs to define role-based skill requirements and proficiency levels
  • Collaborate with HR, Talent Acquisition, and Strategy teams to embed skills insights into planning cycles
  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions to drive adoption and gather feedback
  • Lead the rollout of skills validation processes and tools, including training and change management
  • Develop training materials, templates, and best practices for internal stakeholders
  • Maintain internal knowledge-sharing platforms to ensure accessibility of skills insights
  • Align skills data with workforce planning models and talent forecasting efforts
  • Support scenario modeling and skills-based headcount planning
  • Partner with People Analytics to integrate skills data into dashboards and reporting tools
  • Monitor skill gaps, emerging capabilities, and workforce trends to inform strategic decisions
  • Complete analytics projects within other talent topics as assigned (workforce planning, talent management, retention, diversity, etc.).
