Under the supervision of the Association Director of Youth Empowerment, the Workforce Development and Career Navigator will be responsible for further implementation and administration of the YES program to increase opportunities for 16-24 year olds that reside in targeted high priority Indianapolis neighborhoods. The YES program mobilizes cross-sector agencies and community-based programs to improve high school completion (graduation or high school equivalency attainment); post-secondary enrollment and credential completion; workforce readiness and gainful employment with a livable wage for Opportunity Youth. This position will play a vital role in executing the three components to the program: (1) comprehensive employment training, (2) career coaching, and (3) job placement. The Workforce Development and Career Navigator will recruit, train, and coach program participants to meet their occupational goals as well as provide daily oversight of YES. This position will ensure quality experiences for participants by connecting them to opportunities that complement and enhance their academic, personal and professional goals. Developing, supporting, and retaining successful strategic community partnerships with, educators, and vocational programs will be a critical to this position as the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis continues to advance the organization in the workforce development and career readiness field. Through the YES initiative, the Workforce Development and Career Navigator will deepen the Y’s reach into underrepresented communities while driving systems change for young adults and their families.
