PURPOSE OF THE ROLE The Mechanical Workface Planner III (AWP) plays a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of construction projects by providing direction and project management expertise. This role is responsible for developing detailed plans to optimize construction sequencing, ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with contractual obligations. The Mechanical Workface Planner III integrates advanced work packaging (AWP) principles to enhance efficiency, reduce risks, and drive sustainable outcomes, contributing to Worley’s ambition to be a global leader in sustainability solutions.

Requirements

  • A university degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or an equivalent trade qualification combined with relevant experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction planning with a strong focus on mechanical scopes, including piping systems, rotating/static equipment, and mechanical installations.
  • Demonstrated experience applying Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) principles to mechanical work, including development and sequencing of Installation Work Packages (IWPs).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical construction sequencing, including equipment setting, alignment, piping installation, bolting, and mechanical completion.
  • Experience supporting pre-commissioning and commissioning readiness for mechanical systems.
  • Proven ability to coordinate across engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction teams.
  • Ability to identify installation constraints (access, rigging, tolerances, material availability) and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Proficiency in project management tools, scheduling software, and workface planning systems.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience mentoring junior planners and supporting team development.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains comprehensive workface planning strategies, ensuring alignment with Worley’s sustainability objectives and project execution frameworks.
  • Creates detailed work packages that enhance project efficiency, integrating engineering, procurement, and construction elements.
  • Collaborates with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure a seamless transition of deliverables from design to execution.
  • Ensures workface planning aligns with contractual requirements, regulatory standards, and corporate policies.
  • Analyzes project data to identify potential risks, implement mitigation strategies, and enhance overall construction performance.
  • Provides expert guidance on construction sequencing, resource allocation, and scheduling to optimize productivity.
  • Engages with stakeholders to communicate planning methodologies, progress updates, and any necessary adjustments to execution plans.
  • Leverages data-centric solutions to improve project visibility and decision-making, supporting Worley’s digital transformation initiatives.
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing best practices in workface planning and AWP processes.
  • Provides mentorship and technical guidance to junior planners and team members to strengthen overall planning capabilities.
