About The Position
TEKsystems is seeking a contractor with advanced Microsoft Word document engineering expertise to design and implement a new architecture for their Modern Zoning Code (MZC). The MZC is currently stored as a single Microsoft Word document exceeding 600 pages, containing extensive formatting, styles, cross references, hyperlinks, tables, and diagrams. The existing document structure presents operational challenges such as slow performance, formatting inconsistencies, difficulty maintaining numbering schemes, and issues exporting clean and accurate PDFs for review and public publication. These limitations impede efficient updates, review processes, and staff productivity. To enhance long-term maintainability, performance, and publishing reliability, PDS aims to convert the zoning code into a modular document architecture. This new architecture will consist of multiple section-based documents managed through a Microsoft Word master document and a standardized template.
