About The Position

Join our Information Technology team as an Applications Development Engineer and turn your passion into meaningful impact! The Enterprise Messaging & Collaboration Team within Information Technology (IT) manages applications used Enterprise wide, primarily focused on collaboration and modernization tools. We provide design, implementation and support services to all departments within Wake County. The team is here to keep everything running smoothly, offer help when needed and make sure systems meet all necessary requirements. We are always working on new projects and systems to better support our Wake County employees. As an Applications Development Engineer, you'll work closely multiple Divisions within Information Technology as well as with different business units across the county to provide design, implementation and support solutions across the Microsoft 365 Power Platform. This position is the opportunity to create, improve, experiment and learn as we support business units across the county. You'll handle multiple projects at once, supporting process automation, improve and modernize data collection, workflow optimization, support AI experimentation, development and implementation and more. NOTE: For positions with a remote work option, all Wake County Government remote workers must reside in one of the following states or districts: North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas or Virginia. NOTE: This is a 100% remote position and may be subject to 24-hour on-call requirements.

Requirements

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related field
Two years of experience in application design and development
Six years of experience in application design and development may be substituted for the combined education and experience requirements
Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Nice To Haves

4+ years’ experience in a combination of the following:
Low Code Development (e.g. Microsoft PowerPlatform, ServiceNow App Engine, Zappier, etc)
Enterprise Systems Administration (e.g. on-premises and/or cloud)
Reporting Development (e.g. PowerBI or Excel)
IT Project Management (e.g. CompTIA, CAPM, PMP)
Customer Service (e.g. HelpDesk, Tier 2, etc)
Knowledge and experience with enterprise technology applications (on-premises and cloud)
A desire and ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with our team, staff, and community
A passion for and skill in solving complex data sets and technical challenges
Fundamental knowledge and understanding of how to take a technical project from analysis to go-live
