Word Document Engineer/Specialist-PDF-100% Remote
About The Position
TEKsystems is seeking a contractor with advanced Microsoft Word document engineering expertise and strong format and PDF experience for a 4-6 week 100% Remote contract opening. The role involves designing and implementing a new architecture for the Modern Zoning Code (MZC). The MZC is currently a single Microsoft Word document over 600 pages long, containing extensive formatting, styles, cross-references, hyperlinks, tables, and diagrams. The existing structure causes operational challenges such as slow performance, formatting inconsistencies, difficulty maintaining numbering schemes, and issues exporting clean and accurate PDFs. The objective is to convert the zoning code into a modular document architecture, comprising multiple section-based documents managed through a Microsoft Word master document and standardized template, to enhance long-term maintainability, performance, and publishing reliability.
