About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Senior Windows System Administrator to support the Infrastructure Management Monitoring Team’s enterprise System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) environment. This role is critical to maintaining the security, performance, and availability of our Windows-based systems. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who thrives in a dynamic, mission-driven environment and can engage confidently with senior military and government leadership. Meaningful work and impact: Administer Windows servers, applying patches, hotfixes, and STIGs to maintain system security and compliance. Analyze trends and implement proactive solutions to mitigate recurring issues and enhance system performance. Develop SOPs to standardize and automate tasks, enabling user self-service capabilities. Lead process improvement initiatives and support change management activities. Provide senior-level technical support while monitoring ticket queues to meet or exceed SLAs. Review and update SCOM console security, apply patches, create SCOM console roles and reviews, and create and install custom Management Packs (MP) as needed Deliver SCOM views, create custom reports on results of SCOM monitoring, use SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) technologies, and provide problem resolution for SCOM components and related custom scripts Build Executive Dashboards via Web interfaces or other dashboards via PowerBI Manage hardware/software upgrades, server and rack installations, and related infrastructure projects. Implement monitoring solutions and response processes to empower Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams. Collaborate with SQL engineers to ensure optimal database and application performance. Monitor application/system performance, develop performance baselines, and deliver reports to leadership. Recommend and support hardware/software lifecycle planning and execution. Deliver technical training and engage with stakeholders to ensure timely task execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in IT, Computer Science, or related field—or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience administering Windows-based enterprise environments.
  • IT experience supporting large enterprise Windows server environment
  • Experience working with and utilizing SCOM, SolarWinds, or other monitoring software
  • Experience with configuration, installation, and administration of Windows servers.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and documentation skills.
  • Familiarity with SQL server environments and performance monitoring tools.
  • Experience with hardware/software lifecycle and IT asset management.
  • Effective communicator, capable of delivering clear briefings and documentation to leadership.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively, meet deadlines, and adapt to evolving mission needs.
  • Must hold a DoW 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE) at the time of interview.
  • Must meet DoW IAT Level II IA and baseline certification at start date
  • Ability to obtain ITIL within 6 months of start date
  • Must comply with future DoW 8140 requirements and maintain active certifications.
  • Must have a minimum of an active Secret clearance at time of interview and candidate must maintain active clearance.
