As a member of our Wilderness Properties team—supporting one of the two wilderness properties, The Ranch at Emerald Valley or Cloud Camp—you will play a vital role in delivering warm, attentive, and personalized outdoor guest experiences that reflect our Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five-Diamond standards. This hybrid role encompasses guest service, trail guiding, livestock care, mule transportation support, and general property operations. Whether assisting guests with horseback riding and outdoor activities, providing safe mule transport to Cloud Camp, or caring for horses and mules, you will ensure each interaction is safe, engaging, and aligned with Broadmoor excellence. Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience in a high-quality restaurant environment a plus.
  • Passion for outdoor hospitality and guest service.
  • Comfort and confidence working with horses and mules, including riding, handling, and general care.
  • Enthusiastic, friendly, and energetic team member who works well with others
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Occasional heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.) with a work environment that may be indoors and outdoors at times.

Responsibilities

  • Smile and warmly welcome all guests, consistently upholding the philosophy and spirit of The Broadmoor Wilderness Experience.
  • Greet, escort, and orient guests to each property, sharing details of amenities, activities, and facilities.
  • Answer all guest questions with professionalism; treat each guest interaction on a case-by-case basis to ensure personalized service.
  • Provide memorable and safe outdoor activities such as horseback riding, hiking, fly-fishing, archery, mountain biking, and more.
  • Share fun, engaging, and educational information about the property, its history, the animals, and The Broadmoor.
  • Ensure follow-through on all guest requests and provide attentive service throughout their stay.
  • Assist with daily tacking, grooming, feeding, watering, and general care of the horses. (Emerald Valley Ranch)
  • Provide appropriate feeding, general, and basic medical care for mules, including cleaning stalls and monitoring health. (Cloud Camp)
  • Assess guest riding ability to properly match them to an appropriate horse.
  • Monitor and identify any wounds, unusual behavior, or equine issues; proactively solve unexpected animal concerns.
  • Train and work with mules to maintain safe, reliable transportation. (Cloud Camp)
  • Ability to saddle/unsaddle up to 20 horses per day. (Emerald Valley Ranch)
  • Provide safe, fun, and efficient mule transportation services to and from Cloud Camp.
  • Ensure guests feel secure, welcomed, and informed during rides.
  • Guide guests on hikes and outdoor excursions, including providing accurate directions to trails.
  • Operate golf carts or mules as required for transportation and guest support.
  • Maintain effective communication with the Wilderness Properties team regarding daily riding reservations, guest itineraries, and scheduled activities.
  • Maintain journals documenting mule care, behavior, strengths, weaknesses, and transportation notes for the Mule Handler team. (Cloud Camp)
  • Report repairs, maintenance needs, and safety concerns promptly.
  • Assist other staff and departments as needed to ensure seamless operations across both locations.
  • Assist with general landscape duties including clearing snow/leaves, mowing, watering, and basic grounds upkeep.
  • Help maintain cleanliness across the property, including addressing livestock-related debris.
  • Support inventory management and security for all supplies related to horse and mule operations.
  • Uphold all Broadmoor policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
