As WIC Site Manager, you will supervise the Nutrition staff to ensure that WIC clients receive nutritional assessment, education, and assistance in accordance with WIC Program guidelines. Assist with implementation and evaluation of Nutrition Education Plan within established federal, state, and divisional guidelines and standards. Maintain client/patient confidentiality and ensures compliance with HIPAA and WIC policy and procedures. Maintain strict confidentiality of financial and personnel matters.

Requirements

  • WIC – demonstrates a working knowledge of WIC policies and procedures; maintains knowledge of and acts in accordance with NH’s policies and procedures.
  • Nutrition – demonstrates a current, accurate knowledge base of nutrition and dietary principles and assessment techniques (anthropometric, biochemical, clinical, and dietary); skilled in developing nutrition plans and counseling techniques for effecting change in client’s dietary behavior.
  • Problem solving—identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; reacts calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

  • Computer & Math—proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel; proficient in basic math to make simple calculations; proficient in the use of practice management software to accurately retrieve/record patient data.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition or Nutrition Sciences, Public Health Nutrition, Community Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition or Nursing.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • A minimum of one year experience in maternal and child health or clinic setting, with teaching responsibilities.
  • If a Registered Nurse or Registered Dietitian, must be licensed in the State of Indiana.
  • CPR Certified.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates work assignments and schedules of the WIC Staff to ensure optimum client flow.
  • Actively participates in client complaint procedures to resolve operational problems.
  • Ensures compliance with NH policies and procedures, Federal/State regulations (ex. OSHA), and other grant requirements.
  • Interviews prospective employees and makes recommendations for hire.
  • Provides all new hires with proper training and orientation to CPA required duties.
  • Evaluates staff performance and recommends merit increases, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
  • Communicates departmental goals and sets “expectations of performance” for each team member.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and facilitates resolution of any issues which are a barrier to the team achieving its goals.
  • Plays a vital role in the success of NH employee communication by keeping both staff and administration informed of any changes, ideas, concerns, etc.
  • Analyzes the resources (staffing, equipment, technology, etc.) available to the department and when appropriate, recommends changes to improve efficiencies.
  • Prepares staff time cards for payroll processing.
  • Monitors staff attendance, tardiness, and overtime trends.
  • Performs supervisory duties in accordance with the Managers Standards of Conduct and NH Mission Statement.
  • Coordinates with the Senior Director of WIC and management team on the goals/objectives of the WIC Nutrition Department.
  • Assists in the development of new procedures necessary to comply with new/revised WIC regulations.
  • Provides information and reports to the Senior Director of WIC to clearly describe activities and progress toward agreed upon goals.
  • Responsible for ensuring data collection, preparing reports, answering correspondence, and compiling statistics for administrative and regulatory purposes as required by WIC grant.
  • Assists with the Farmer’s Market program.
  • Assists in the implementation and evaluation of the annual Nutrition Education Plan.
  • Maintains appropriate and timely nutrition education materials for client use.
  • Provides on-going nutrition education for staff.
  • Coordinates with other WIC supervisors to ensure a supervisor remains onsite during all hours of operation.
  • Conducts periodic audits to ensure that staff perform duties in accordance with WIC policy and procedures.
  • Monitors individual counseling sessions by Nutrition staff.
  • Becomes a working supervisor in all areas and is able to perform job functions of subordinates.
  • Performs height/weight calculations and hemoglobins as necessary.
  • Encourages WIC participant utilization of the nutrition education component.
  • Encourage and promotes breastfeeding.
  • Replaces lost/stolen cards in accordance with WIC guidelines.
  • Issues WIC cards to participants.
  • Voids benefits when appropriate.
  • Evaluates client’s nutritional status through dietary assessment, consults and makes recommendations in relation to nutritional need, family income, cultural food patterns, and modifications in diet.
  • Interprets WIC Program regulations and policy changes for health care to professionals serving in the clinics.
  • Explains and interprets WIC regulations for applicants.
  • Makes referrals to Breastfeeding Supervisor as appropriate.
  • Promotes Breastfeeding to prenatals and works with postpartum clients experiencing difficulties with breastfeeding.
  • Provides referrals to community programs providing specialized nutrition services/food assistance.
  • Ensures an adequate inventory of supplies is maintained.
  • Orders any supplies as needed.
  • Attends and participates in meetings and in-services as required.
  • Participates in professional development activities.
  • Chairs and serves on committees as requested.
  • Performs duties in accordance with NH Standards of Conduct and Mission Statement.
  • Performs related work as required and other duties (similar physical requirements and OSHA risk level) as assigned.
