With general direction and oversight by the WIC Coordinator, the Nutritionist will help ensure all services of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) are provided, including nutrition assessment and documentation, basic education and counseling of pregnant, lactating, and postpartum women, infants, and children deemed at low risk. Additional duties for this role include collecting and documenting participant anthropometric data, recruiting, scheduling, and enrolling clients, making appropriate health-related referrals, selecting core food packages, completing secondary education visits, answering phones, data entry, compiling data, and preparing summary reports, maintaining medical records for clients, copying documents needed for client enrollment/certification, as well as other duties as assigned. The WIC Nutritionist will provide ongoing services to clients as needed and work collaboratively with professionals in other disciplines to ensure continuity of health care. This position requires local travel including outreach activities and occasionally out-of-town travel for meetings, conferences, etc., and is subject to being assigned to any of the health district’s facilities/work locations.
