Standard Electric Company, a wholesale electrical distributor, has an open position for a motivated Outside Sales/Account Manager in Lansing, MI. This is a long-term opportunity in a family friendly organization. Candidate should have great customer service and communication skills; be able to develop and maintain strong relationships to generate and grow sales, possess knowledge of product lines and pricing. A minimum of 2-3 years in the wholesale electrical industry experience is expected, 5 or more years’ extensive industry knowledge preferred. The more you develop satisfied customers, the more you sell, and the more you make!Outside Sales: This position will be directly involved in all aspects of electrical sales as well as the development of business proposals to potential and existing customers. Candidate will support the sale of electrical supplies.

Requirements

  • Oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with management and evaluate customer needs.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in sales of electrical products to the contractor market.
  • In-depth understanding of the construction business.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Two-year degree from a technical college; Four-year degree preferred or equivalent progressive experience in relevant field.

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical industry knowledge: 5 years (preferred)
  • Basic understanding of industrial, commercial, and institutional markets for electrical products.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect for potential customers through various methods.
  • Conduct product demonstrations, present technical information, and prepare sales proposals.
  • Establish new and maintain existing relationships with variety of customers.
  • Monitor market and competitor activities and adjust to a changing environment.
  • Negotiate and close sales.
  • Provide technical support.
