About The Position

Join us as the Wellness Department Manager and oversee all daily operations of the Wellness Department—including staff leadership, inventory management, merchandising, and customer service. In this role, you’ll maintain Boise Co-op’s high standards of quality, safety, and product knowledge while driving departmental performance and fostering a motivated, team-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and hold staff accountable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities across all levels of the organization.
  • High level of organization, self-motivation, and attention to detail.
  • Calm, objective, and professional approach to challenges in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Knowledge of leadership best practices, supervision, and staff training.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and varied schedules.
  • Minimum three years of retail management experience required.
  • Experience in purchasing and inventory management required.
  • Exposure to and interest in holistic wellness required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Excel required.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
  • Must be at least 18 years old to operate department equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily department operations including hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating staff to ensure strong productivity and coverage.
  • Develop a positive, team-oriented workplace culture by coaching employees, supporting professional growth, and encouraging accountability.
  • Monitor and achieve sales, labor, and margin goals as defined by the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Oversee inventory management through accurate ordering, maintaining stock levels, and completing monthly inventory counts.
  • Ensure freight is received, stocked, rotated, and merchandised promptly while maintaining organized shelves and storage areas.
  • Train staff in all aspects of department operations, including customer service, product knowledge, merchandising, ordering, and safety standards.
  • Ensure full compliance with Co-op policies and regulatory requirements, including DESHA-approved language and accurate labeling for ingredients and pricing.
  • Maintain professional communication, foster teamwork, and promote accountability throughout the department.
  • Collaborate with the Category Manager and vendors to ensure proper product assortment, pricing accuracy, and effective promotional execution.
  • Demonstrate leadership integrity by modeling Co-op values, ethical standards, and professional conduct at all times.
