Requirements

  • Basic knowledge and experience in wellness with team/sports experience or some course work in Wellness/Fitness work preferred.
  • At least 16 years of age.
  • Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including lifting, carrying, pulling, standing and walking. (up to 50 lbs.)
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
  • Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.

Responsibilities

  • Educates and instructs members in the proper use of weights and equipment.
  • Builds effective, authentic relationships with members and guests; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA.
  • Designs personalized fitness programs for members through Coaching Connection Program.
  • Communicates with coaching connection participants and updates their documents weekly.
  • Ensures that daily/weekly equipment maintenance and cleaning are completed (use checklist).
  • Enforces fitness center rules in order to ensure a safe, clean, hygienic and organized facility.
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
  • Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
  • Takes on any additional responsibility as assigned by the director/coordinator.
  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers
  • Attend/complete required abuse risk management training before working with consumers and on an annual basis.
  • Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements
  • Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities
