We are searching for a Welding Supervisor to join our Hollister-Whitney team at Vantage Elevation. About Us Vantage Elevation, LLC is North America’s leading independent manufacturer of elevator components and systems. Position Summary The Welding Supervisor is a frontline people leader with full accountability for safety, quality, productivity, and results within the assigned welding/production area. This role is responsible not only for supervising daily operations, but for proactively leading, anticipating issues, and driving improvements before problems occur. The Welding Supervisor is expected to be a visible, decisive, and engaged leader on the shop floor—actively addressing safety risks, identifying opportunities for efficiency, and holding employees accountable to standards of performance, quality, and conduct. This is not a reactive or administrative role; it requires initiative, sound judgment, and ownership. Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Welding Supervisor ensures production requirements are achieved, safety and quality standards are met, costs are controlled, and shop rules are fully enforced.

Requirements

  • Associate degree preferred or a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience supervising or leading employees in a production setting strongly preferred.
  • Welding experience or working knowledge of welding processes is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people, make decisions, and drive accountability.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing safety requirements and procedures.
  • Knowledge or exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own safety outcomes for the assigned department; safety leadership is a fundamental expectation of the role.
  • Proactively identify hazards, unsafe behaviors, and at-risk conditions before incidents occur.
  • Lead task-level safety discussions and reinforce “What If?” thinking prior to work starting or changing.
  • Be a visible presence on the shop floor and intervene immediately when unsafe conditions or behaviors are observed.
  • Establish and enforce department safety rules and PPE requirements.
  • Provide hands-on daily supervision of welding and production activities.
  • Lead daily production execution to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
  • Develop and execute realistic, well-planned weekly production schedules.
  • Monitor labor utilization, workflow, and equipment performance; make adjustments as needed.
  • Examine work for accuracy, quality, and conformance to specifications, policies, and procedures.
  • Track delivery and quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Fully enforce shop rules and plant standards.
  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and performance management for hourly employees.
  • Address performance or behavioral issues promptly through coaching and corrective action as appropriate.
  • Support onboarding, training, and cross-training to build capability and flexibility within the team.
  • Implement and sustain 5S standards across assigned areas.
  • Support engineering projects, process improvements, and new product introductions.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and other leaders to drive operational excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.
