About The Position

To maintain the physical school facilities in a condition of operating excellence so that educational use of it may be made at all times.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas driver’s license
  • Has working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
  • Has the ability to read blueprints and drawings and make layouts.
  • Has strength and stamina necessary to perform heavy lifting and to work in heat and in uncomfortable positions, and at heights from ladders or a lift.
  • Has skill in the use and care of tools and equipment.
  • Three years of welding experience, including a working knowledge of the practices, materials, methods and the tools of the welding trade.

Responsibilities

  • Performs skilled welding work in equipment repair and construction.
  • Performs cutting and welding operations on structural steel, machinery and equipment using acetylene and electric ARC welding equipment.
  • Brazes various non-ferrous metals
  • Sharpens and tempers tools.
  • Fabricates special tools and equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment and materials.
  • Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure area are clean.
  • Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects.
  • Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds and equipment following Established inspection procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
