Weld Inspector - Night Shift

About The Position

Major Areas of Responsibility Perform pre-fabrication and post-fabrication inspections on all coils prior to leak testing.   This includes: 1. Ensuring all coil tubing is correct prior to welding. 2. Ensure all headers and their connections are correct before welding. 3. Visually check all welds to make sure they meet standard (B31.5). 4. Verify welders and welding process/techniques and compliant to applicable WPS’s. Assist leak test tank operators with inspections as needed Ensure all weld repairs also meet standard. Assist supervisors in training of welders to make sure weld standards are upheld. Assist in responsibilities associated with certified units (ASME Code, CRN, etc.).   These responsibilities may include: 1. Witnessing/signing off on manufacturing procedures requiring quality control hold points. 2. Ensuring all required paperwork is filled out by the appropriate personnel. 3. File and store all paperwork properly. Assist in other areas of the plant if requested. Abide by all shop guidelines. Job Qualifications Position Knowledge, Skills, & Experience Must have knowledge and skills in welding. These include: Required: GTAW gas tungsten arc welding (TIG welding) Required: GMAW gas metal arc welding (MIG welding) Optional: semi-automated welding techniques Demonstrate welding skills by performing a weld test. Minimum 2 years’ work experience in a welding field required. A working knowledge of welding code preferred (ASME BPVC, B31.5, CSA B51, etc.) Ability to review and interpret WPS documents. American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) preferred. Minimum High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Demonstrate professionalism in day-to-day dealings with coworkers, setting a good example in attendance and work ethics. Willingness to learn. Ensures adherence to company policies and work rules, as well as ensuring a safe work environment is maintained. Maintain a cheerful and positive attitude. Must know how to read and understand drawings. Be a self-starter that can work with minimal supervision. Good mathematical background. Be able to use basic hand tools. Requirements
