About The Position

Responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of welded components by conducting inspections, developing welding procedures, and ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Assignment of Functions and Responsibilities: • Perform visual, non-destructive, and destructive weld inspections to verify compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications. • Develop, write, and implement Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs) and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs) to ensure welding processes meet quality and performance standards. • Conduct welder performance qualification testing and maintain Welder Performance Qualification Records (WPQR). • Oversee non-destructive testing, and ensure proper materials are available. • Review and interpret welding blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings to ensure adherence to design requirements. • Monitor base and consumable materials, pre-weld cutting, joint positions, welder settings, and other critical aspects of weld setups. • Observes the welding processes throughout production to ensure all welding personnel follow proper procedures, meet the expectations of applicable welding standards, as well as comply with safety regulations. • Provide training and guidance to welders and other personnel on proper welding techniques and quality standards. • Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to ensure welding processes align with project goals. • Document and report nonconforming product, raw material, processes, and equipment and ensure proper identification and segregation of nonconforming items. • Maintain accurate inspection reports, documentation, and records for audits and compliance. • Accurately complete required time entries and applicable inspection entries on job travelers, inspection reports, and other documentation as required. • Ensure all safety protocols and procedures are followed during welding and inspection activities. • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and ensure effectiveness and proper care of equipment and machinery. • Stay updated on industry standards, codes, and advancements in welding technology.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English, including understanding of verbal/written instructions.
  • Valid Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification through the American Welding Society (AWS) with a Welding Procedure Qualifier endorsement.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of continuous experience in weld inspection, with a proven track record in developing, writing, and implementing PQRs and WPSs in accordance with AWS and/or other relevant standards.
  • Proficiency in interpreting welding codes, standards, and specifications (e.g., AWS D1.1, D1.2, and D1.3, MIL-STD-3057).
  • Knowledge of welding processes (e.g., SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW) and materials (e.g., carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum).
  • Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as RT, UT, MT, and PT.
  • Ability to read drawings/specifications including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T) required.
  • Must demonstrate a "Quality mindset" with strong attention to detail, analytical problem-solving, and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work in various environments and perform inspections that may require bending, standing, climbing, and/or lifting up to thirty-five pounds.
  • Adherence to safety standards and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements is mandatory.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with advanced welding technologies or automated welding systems.
  • Familiar with Weld Office software or similar applications.
  • Additional certifications (e.g., AWS, ASNT) are a plus.
