About The Position

Under general direction, performs weed spraying to prevent damage to county roads.

Requirements

  • Experience or training in recognition and eradication of unwanted vegetation
  • Through knowledge of Klamath County’s road system
  • Knowledge of chemicals used in weed control and their application
  • Necessary safety precautions when applying chemicals
  • Knowledge of the proper application equipment and its care.
  • Valid Oregon Commercial Driver's License
  • First Aid Certification
  • CPR Certification
  • Forklift Training
  • Chemical Applicator’s License
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Sprays unwanted vegetation on County roads utilizing a computerized chemical injection sprayer.
  • Performs maintenance on weed control vehicle.
  • Maintains current Chemical Applicator’s license by attending continuing education classes.
  • Completes daily records of location, type, and application rate of chemicals applied.
  • Performs duties related to chip sealing, paving, shouldering and light equipment; such as. Trucks, brooms and mowers; plows snow and sands roads.
