Requirements

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
  • Experience sufficient to provide guidance and assistance to co-workers and to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years of service.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the content management system (CMS) including installing updates, implement new technologies, troubleshoot errors, and maintain day to day operations.
  • Create and maintain users and permissions for content editors within the CMS and within web forms systems.
  • Update, configure, and maintain web software including IIS and Apache Tomcat across a variety of operating systems, along with maintaining and making recommendations on third party applications.
  • Applies advanced level understanding of current and future technology architecture and integrates this knowledge into design, problem solving, planning, and strategic technical roadmaps.
  • Troubleshoots and debugs complex issues by performing thorough analysis and generates root-cause-analysis for any production incident.
  • Create, code, and test responsive web applications, features, and sites on development servers outside the CMS.
  • Create, code, test, implement, and maintain content types and layouts in the CMS using web programming languages.
  • Develops and maintains new systems that can be deployed through the web to optimize processes.
  • Evaluate and improve new and existing code to ensure that it is properly structured, meets industry standards, and is compatible with browsers, devices, and operating systems.
  • Evaluate new and existing code and website content to ensure that it meets current ADA and WCAG standards.
  • Improve existing code to include features used by assistive technology.
  • Guide users in ADA mitigation of content, including documents (PDF, Microsoft Office), video, images, and any other form of media intended to be posted on the CMS.
  • Works with Public Relations/Marketing to configure the Web Content Management System for efficiencies and workflows including content expiration notifications and content approvals.
  • Provide recommendations to the Web Advisory Committee regarding the setting and completion of new initiatives that include the assessment of web-based mobile applications, content management systems, website redesigns, and review of Google Analytics.
  • Assists the Marketing and Public Relations department with large content-based projects.
  • Develop and deploy various electronic forms (FormSite, Unity, HTML, PDF, and Gravity) including support for Hyland OnBase.
  • Assists in the collection and documentation of user's requirements, development of user stories, estimates, testing strategies, and work plans.
  • Create and conduct training for content managers on use of the content management system and web forms system.
  • Establishes and promotes development guidelines, best practices, and standards for related group websites.
  • Manages the testing process, which includes devising test plans, creating test cases, establishing protocols and appropriate testing environments, and coordinating actual website testing.
  • Identifies new systems and processes to reduce work load or improve efficiency.
  • Prepares reports, manuals, and other documentation on the status, operation, and maintenance of software
  • May be involved in various multi-departmental web projects.
  • Develop and support web applications including web-based administrative systems.
  • Combines conceptual understanding with broad applied experience and provides seasoned technical expertise, high-level analytical, interpretative, evaluative, and/or constructive advice.
  • Evaluates requirements and enhancements requests, and proposes solutions with careful consideration of cost, impact, standards, and compatibility to with other systems.
  • Work to meet established production schedules and deadlines as assigned by the College’s Marketing team.
  • Proactively communicate with internal clients on job status, and follow project through to completion to the ultimate satisfaction of internal clients.
  • Create and edit permissions, Unity forms, document types and keywords.
  • Diagnose and remediate software, CMS platform, and web application issues by performing code-level debugging, log analysis, and system configuration review.
  • Assist with Workflow creations and editing
  • Serve as a backup for other software utilized at SJC that is maintained by the Application and Technology Learning Services team, including: OnBase, Docubee, Canvas, etc.
  • Performs related duties.
