About The Position

The NC State Highway Patrol is seeking an enthusiastic team member to join our Technical Services Unit (TSU) Team e as a Web Developer. The Web Developer serves as a senior technical contributor within the State Highway Patrol's Applications and Integrations Team in the Technical Services Unit. Performs advanced professional work involving the configuration, support, maintenance, enhancement, and integration of complex, mission-critical application systems used across the Highway Patrol. Under minimal supervision, this position functions as a subject matter expert for assigned application platforms and associated databases. Work includes diagnosing and resolving highly complex application and integration issues, implementing system enhancements, supporting enterprise-level upgrades, and ensuring application reliability, security, and performance. Works on systems with significant operational impact, providing expert technical guidance to application users, technical staff, and management. While not serving as a formal supervisor, this position may provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to lower-level analysts or specialists and may lead defined technical efforts within larger initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of progressive experience in business application consulting or development; OR Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of progressive experience in business application consulting or development; OR High School or General Education Development (GED) diploma and eight years of experience in business application consulting or development; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced experience supporting enterprise-level application systems in a Microsoft-based environment.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft SOL Server and T-SOL, including performance tuning and advanced troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with PowerShell for automation, administration, and system support tasks .
  • Experience with XML, XPath, XOuery, and SOL Server XML features .
  • Experience supporting or enhancing web-based applications using ASP.NET, MVC, C#, and Entity Framework (EF) Core.
  • Strong understanding of relational data modeling and database design principles .
