About The Position

The High Point University Office of Communication Web Content Coordinator transforms campus stakeholder needs into polished, effective, and on-brand web experiences. This role serves as a bridge between non-technical departments and the university’s digital presence, managing projects from initial consultation through final publication. The Web Content Coordinator translates stakeholder requirements into clear, actionable web deliverables, applying strong visual judgment to ensure effective layout hierarchy, readability, and brand consistency. Working within a WordPress multisite environment, this position builds and maintains web pages while ensuring all content is search-optimized, accessible, and aligned with university brand standards. QUALIFICATIONS: Education Bachelor’s degree required Experience and Training Demonstrated experience building and managing pages within WordPress, specifically using the Gutenberg block editor to create visually structured layouts Experience with HTML and CSS as it relates to quality control, troubleshooting formatting issues, and ensuring responsive behavior across devices. Experience writing, editing, and organizing content with a marketing-first mindset, ensuring clarity, audience awareness, and effective calls to action. Knowledge, Skills, Ability: Proficient in the WordPress environment (multi-site preferred) with the ability to execute content updates and page builds without relying on backend engineering. Strong visual judgment regarding typography, whitespace, alignment, and hierarchy to ensure pages are readable and professionally polished. Professional stakeholder presence with the ability to guide conversations, capture clear notes, and translate fuzzy requests into concrete web requirements. Solid understanding of SEO fundamentals (headings, meta descriptions, internal linking) and an aptitude for learning Answer Engine Optimization (AEO). Knowledge of web accessibility basics (alt text, link structure) and a commitment to universal design practices. Skilled in graphic design tools like Adobe Photoshop or Canva to create, edit, and optimize visual content for the web. Comfortable using modern AI tools as a practical assistant for drafting, summarizing, and accelerating content workflows. Strong problem solver with the ability to work independently and maintain momentum on projects. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Work closely with the Front-End Website Manager and Director of Web Services to help manage University website content Stay up to date on web design and information architecture Create website/page/blog in an organized fashion based on user requirements Constantly repurpose HPU content for use on web platform Develop working relationships with offices campus-wide to ensure a high level of awareness of their websites Collaborate with the Social Media Specialist on brand awareness on website Position content based on SEO best practices Maintain positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating effectively with students, students' parents, faculty, co-workers and managers on website updates.
