About The Position

The WE LEAD Annual Youth Interns perform a variety of administrative and department specific functions. The youth will be placed in Companies/Organizations in the surrounding community that choose to participate in the program and will intern in various positions. Interns are required to use judgment in applying general policies and procedures governing professional behavior. They are expected to adhere to the confidentiality policies of the workplace, its clients and employees. They will perform related work as required or assigned by host department site and will take a proactive role in their assigned department by contributing thoughtful and valuable work.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in high school and have a minimum 2.0 GPA.
• Must have completed a minimum of 10 hours of community service within the last 12 months.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Maintain good organization practices and ability to prioritize projects.
• General computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong desire to learn and grow professionally.
• A willingness to foster the growth of the tribe and its success.
• Attend the mandatory orientation. CPR/First Aid and Medical Certificate. (Employer to provide certification)
• Food Handlers Certificate. (Employer to provide certification)
• Lifeguard Certification, if applicable (Employer to provide certification).
• Employees will be subject to unannounced alcohol and drug testing as a condition of continued employment.
• All applicants are required to complete the pre-screen Background Clearance and Drug Testing.

Responsibilities

• Provides office reception and correspondence as needed such as answering phones, e-mails and processing incoming calls and communications.
• Assist staff with general office duties including, but not limited to, copying, record keeping, collecting documents, filing, research, and general coordination.
• Contributes to team efforts by assisting staff with their projects as necessary.
• Attend and participate in staff meeting.
• Be challenged to find innovative solutions to unique Industry challenges and continuously evolving needs.
• Perform duties and complete assignments assigned by the Manager outlined in the “Individualized Work Plan.”
• Actively participate in an exit interview upon completion of the program.
• May perform all other duties as assigned/needed.
