About The Position

Huitt-Zollars, Inc has full-time opportunity for a Water Resources Civil Engineer (Eng IV) with 5-10 years of experience in our Austin location . Preference is a licensed engineer in the state of Texas. Experience in the Austin area is desired. The role will include providing oversight of a diverse range of stormwater projects in addition to managing project budgets and business development. The position will include working collaboratively in a team environment providing engineering analysis and design for public works infrastructure, urban development, and transportation projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas
  • 5-10 years of civil engineering design experience
  • Strong technical skills in a wide range of hydrologic & hydraulic analyses
  • Utilize software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, XPSWMM, MicroStation ORD-DU, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and GIS for design and analysis
  • Ability to mentor staff in the preparation of civil engineering documents and specifications
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to write clearly to communicate technical issues and design ideas

  • Experience in the Austin area is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for stormwater management, floodplain mapping, and drainage analysis and design
  • Utilize software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, XPSWMM, MicroStation ORD-DU, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and GIS for design and analysis
  • Conduct quality reviews on H&H work to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Develop scopes of work, fee estimates, and proposals for H&H projects and tasks
  • Support client engagement, permitting, and regulatory compliance with FEMA, TxDOT, and local agencies
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior engineers
  • Prepares and follows comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project.
  • Ensures proper staff is assigned and utilized on their projects.
  • Reviews project reports and performance metrics to track project progress and budget.
  • Leads successful projects (profit, on-schedule, quality, satisfied client).
  • Contributes to successful delivery and performance of projects.
  • Cultivates relationships with clients and holds strong relationships with clients.
  • Understands, follows, and enforces Huitt-Zollars' business process including weekly rhythm.
  • Takes active steps in the pursuit of winning new business or additional opportunities with existing clients and may be responsible for a stated portion of office sales goal.
  • Assists and/or leads team in pursuit of new work (repeat work, SOQ and Proposals).
  • Develops and/or executes project Win strategy.
  • Understands and follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives.
  • Ensures quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations.
  • Actively engages and participates in the training, coaching, and mentoring of junior staff.
  • Understands duties and responsibilities, possesses necessary job knowledge and technical skills, maintains job knowledge current.
