About The Position

The Water Polo Team Manager supports the YMCA of Montclair’s Water Polo program by handling administrative tasks, communication, equipment organization, and team coordination. This role ensures smooth program operations and helps create an organized, inclusive, and positive environment for all participants. The Team Manager works closely with the Water Polo Coach and Aquatics leadership to support players and families. Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Comfort working with youth and families in an active aquatic environment.
  • Ability to multitask and manage administrative duties efficiently.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with the coach, aquatics staff, and participants.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and promote an inclusive team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of water polo is helpful but not required.
  • CPR/AED & First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

  • Plan Maintain accurate attendance for all practices, clinics, and events.
  • Communicate schedules, reminders, and updates to participants and families through email or other YMCA-approved platforms.
  • Help organize and distribute program materials, such as registration forms, calendars, practice guidelines, or event information.
  • Coordinate with Aquatics staff regarding pool space, schedule adjustments, and facility needs.
  • Track equipment inventory and report needs or issues to the Water Polo coach.
  • Assist in planning and managing scrimmages, inter-Y events, or special programs.
  • Collect participant data when needed for evaluations, progress updates, or end-of-session documentation.
  • Serve as a positive role model and uphold YMCA of Montclair’s core values.
  • Support the safety and well-being of youth by ensuring participants follow all YMCA guidelines and pool rules.
  • Model the YMCA’s values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility at all times.
  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with members, volunteers, staff, and participants.
  • Attend required Abuse Risk Management training and adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising members and participants.
  • Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations and follow mandated abuse reporting procedures.
