Junior Water Polo Coach
About The Position
The Junior Water Polo Coach is an entry-level coaching position designed for teens or young adults interested in coaching and leadership development. This role supports the coaching staff while learning the fundamentals of coaching, instruction, and program leadership within the YMCA of Montclair’s Water Polo program. Requirements
- Minimum age of 18
- Knowledge of water polo fundamentals, gameplay strategy, and rules.
- Strong communication skills and ability to motivate and support youth participants.
- CPR/AED & First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and promote an inclusive team environment.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience playing or coaching water polo preferred.
- Lifeguard certification preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Assist coaches with drills, warm-ups, and basic skill instruction.
- Help supervise participants and promote positive behavior.
- Support equipment setup and breakdown.
- Serve as a role model for younger participants.
- Learn and reinforce YMCA values, safety procedures, and program expectations.
- Assist with attendance and basic administrative tasks as assigned.
- Adhere to policies related to boundaries with members, volunteers, staff, and participants.
- Attend required Abuse Risk Management training and adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising members and participants.
- Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations and follow mandated abuse reporting procedures.
