About The Position

We are hiring a full-time Water Operator I, II or III to serve our Vista Ridge water plant in Caldwell, TX. This individual will perform skilled work involving the operations, maintenance and control of water plants, booster stations, reservoirs, wells, and all other associated water treatment and distribution facilities. The schedule for this position initially will be Monday through Friday. Candidate must be open to rotating and flexible shifts, as shifts are subject to rotation on quarterly intervals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a clean driving record.
  • Operator I: Minimum of 1 year of water operator experience, including experience with SCADA and TCEQ class D (minimum) water certification required.
  • Operator II: Minimum of 2 years of water operator experience, including experience with SCADA and TCEQ class C (minimum) water certification required.
  • Operator III: Minimum of 5 years of water operator experience, including experience with SCADA and TCEQ class B (minimum) water certification required.
  • Knowledge of the operations, methods, practices, techniques and servicing requirements of water production, storage and distribution facilities, water treatment and collection facilities.
  • Knowledge of safety practices in the operation of electrical and mechanical equipment used in water facilities.
  • Experience and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the operation, maintenance, control and repair of all related plant process equipment, including pumps, blowers, scrubbers, motors, chlorinators, chemical feeds, and basic laboratory instruments to ensure treated water meets County, State and EPA quality standards.
  • Obtains samples and performs required tests including PH, CL2, LSI and similar tests.
  • Monitors water demands and adjusts flows through well and/or booster pumps to control delivery schedules in accordance with established policies.
  • Conducts various tests to determine proper chemical feed rates, calculates chemical feed rates and changes pump settings as needed.
  • Maintains chemical inventory supply and makes requests for new or replacement orders.
  • Operates, monitors and adjusts as necessary all related plant process equipment, including chemical pumps.
  • Monitors and operates telemetry and SCADA systems.
  • Assists in the safe unloading and storage of chemicals.
  • Makes equipment adjustments, lubrications, and minor repairs and reports equipment problems.
