About The Position

Responsible for the review, maintenance, and documentation of all work orders for an assigned water facility. The Water Facilities Supervisor (WFS) oversees and physically assists personnel in the safe performance of maintenance on Water Treatment Plant and/or Lime Reclamation Facility equipment, buildings, vehicles, and grounds. The incumbent inspects the grounds, structures, machinery, and process equipment to detect problems, anticipate future needs, and ensure they are receiving proper care from subordinates. The WFS monitors inventory levels and assists in the development of specifications for new supplies and equipment while working with other departmental staff to prioritize and maintain a schedule of needed corrective, and preventative maintenance activities. Incumbent must maintain a thorough knowledge of administrative policies and procedures, safety policies and procedures and the operation and maintenance requirements of their assigned facility. Required to be on-call when not at work.

Requirements

  • Must meet one of the following: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Hydrology or related discipline AND one year of experience in the operations and maintenance of water treatment or lime reclamation plants or approved facility. OR Associate's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Hydrology or related discipline AND 5 years of experience in the operations and maintenance of water treatment or lime reclamation plants or approved facility. OR High school diploma or G.E.D. AND 8 years of experience in the operations and maintenance of water treatment or lime reclamation plants or approved facility.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.
  • Must possess a valid Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) Water Supply Class II Operator's license at time of appointment .
  • Must obtain the Water Supply Class III within 36 months of appointment and maintain as a term and condition of continued employment.
  • Applications must specifically address each of the minimum qualifications, directly showing how each is met.
  • A background investigation and evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity is required prior to employment.
  • All candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position, including current city employees seeking transfer, promotion, demotion, etc. into a classified position.
  • Final appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a job-related medical examination including drug screen.
  • Applicants offered employment with the City will be required to pass a nicotine screening.
  • Newly hired employees must remain tobacco and nicotine free as a condition of continued employment.
