Role description: We are looking for a Water Engineer to support our team in Syracuse, NY. In Engineering, you'll create some of the world’s most iconic and ground-breaking structures and spaces that transform the world around us, from making journeys easier to opening up public places that bring people together. Role accountabilities: As a Water Engineer, you will evaluate, plan, design and support management of projects for water/wastewater treatment and conveyance (pipelines, treatment, and pumping facilities). You will perform routine to moderately difficult design assignments requiring the application of fundamental design techniques in accordance with company and industry standards and codes. Your assignments will regularly include material needs and performing necessary calculations using accepted formulas and references. Regular interface with other departments, clients, vendors and project engineers will be needed to support project production. You will also support professional engineering services during construction: construction observation, review of shop drawings, responses to request for information (RFI's) and permit closeouts. You will act as a project resource, completing allocated activities to meet budget, timeframe and quality objectives, meeting or exceeding client expectations. You will carry out investigations and analyses to support the development of technical solutions, preparing documentation and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with Arcadis requirements, and relevant national standards and codes of practice. Serving as a liaison for project managers/team leaders, and clients to ensure effective communication on project matters will be a crucial part of your role. Contributing to the resolution of technical issues on projects, and providing technical guidance to other team members will also be important in your position. In addition, you will also be expected to: Collaborate with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design or solution. Review completed engineering work to ensure it meets specified standards. Further develop understanding of the services delivered by Arcadis, of the client’s business and the industry sector to facilitate personal networking and to develop personal credibility in the industry

Requirements

  • Detail oriented with knowledge of relevant national standards and codes of practice
  • Developing research, data gathering, technical writing and analysis skills
  • Developing skills including technical and task management
  • Work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, time management and communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an appropriate area of engineering
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in engineering
  • EIT Certification
