Your Opportunity The role of a Water Resources Engineer is to work as a team member on small and large projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer. The Water Resources Engineer will work under direct supervision of a Senior Engineer to develop skills in evaluating, selecting, specifying, and engineering water resource elements for projects. Requirements

  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.
  • Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the design team.
  • Working knowledge of PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission design criteria preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
  • Developing ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies.
  • Proficient in Microstation, as well as relevant software programs which may include In Roads/Open Roads, Auto Turn, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Hydraflow Storm Sewers and Hyrdographs, HydraCAD, and StormCAD.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of water resources experience to include projects with PennDOT or the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
  • Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.

Responsibilities

  • Uses knowledge of the general concepts of relevant civil engineering elements including the design of drainage, stormwater, E&S control, grading, etc.
  • Performs civil engineering design tasks on assigned transportation and oil/natural gas related projects.
  • Uses knowledge of the general concepts of relevant water resources fundamentals to design drainage conveyance systems, stormwater management features, and erosion and sediment (E&S) pollution control features, for transportation (PennDOT and PA Turnpike Commission) and Oil/Natural Gas projects.
  • Perform design calculations with minimal supervision.
  • Assist in preparation of stormwater management plans, E&S pollution control plans, culvert analysis, drainage pipe and inlet design, channel design and NPDES/ESCGP/waterway permit document preparation.
  • Assists in the preparation of engineering calculations, project documents reports, client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects, depending on experience.
  • Attends and assists in client/contractor/stakeholder meetings to gain a better understanding of client’s goals, depending on experience.
  • Recognizes when technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions.
  • Trains less experienced team members in day-to-day activities including routine technical design, processing, and company procedures, depending on experience.
  • Utilizes relevant software programs to prepare exhibits and complex working drawings.
  • Continues to develop skills using software programs for design and/or drafting.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
