Position Overview: The Wastewater Treatment Technician is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining the facility’s wastewater treatment systems to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company standards. This role supports production operations by safely and efficiently treating process water, maintaining optimal system performance, and documenting treatment activities in accordance with environmental permits and corporate requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in wastewater treatment, chemistry, or environmental science preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in industrial wastewater treatment or related plant operations preferred.
  • Knowledge of chemical dosing systems, pumps, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Strong understanding of treatment principles (biological, physical, or chemical).
  • Ability to interpret lab results and make process adjustments.
  • Competence with data entry, maintenance logs, and monitoring systems.
  • Excellent safety awareness and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor wastewater treatment equipment including pumps, clarifiers, filters, and chemical feed systems.
  • Collect and analyze samples to monitor system performance and ensure discharge meets required parameters.
  • Perform adjustments to treatment processes (pH, flow rates, chemical dosing, etc.) based on testing results.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and calibrations of equipment to ensure reliability and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate logs and documentation of treatment operations, test results, and system readings.
  • Coordinate with EHS and operations teams on environmental compliance, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Respond to system alarms and troubleshoot equipment or process issues as they arise.
  • Manage chemical inventory and ensure safe handling, storage, and usage per safety data sheets (SDS).
  • Support waste minimization and sustainability efforts related to water reuse and environmental performance.
