About The Position

The Wastewater Operator is responsible for the daily operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). This position requires a multi-task oriented individual who is a strong team player and capable of working independently during assigned shifts. The Operator ensures efficient plant performance, regulatory compliance, safety adherence, and continuously seeks opportunities for process improvement.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of chemistry and biology.
  • Ability to monitor, interpret, and adjust plant processes.
  • Ability to perform basic analytical lab work.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to compute and document process data accurately.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and multi-task oriented.
  • Ability to climb ladders up to 30 feet.
  • Ability to move and handle chemical drums weighing up to 750 lbs. using manual equipment.
  • Ability to operate powered industrial vehicles and equipment.
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions within an industrial setting.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and monitor the complete wastewater treatment process flow.
  • Operate and monitor analytical and process control equipment.
  • Diagnose operational issues and make appropriate chemical and process adjustments as needed.
  • Perform minimal analytical laboratory testing to support plant operations.
  • Maintain accurate operational logs, compute process data, and document required information.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on plant equipment.
  • Assist with maintenance of plumbing and electronic equipment as needed.
  • Operate manual equipment such as pallet jacks to move chemical drums weighing up to 750 lbs.
  • Operate powered industrial equipment including forklifts, tractors, and loaders.
  • Work independently on assigned shifts when required.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy working environment at all times.
  • Follow established safety procedures, including proper care and use of safety equipment.
  • Use and maintain self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) equipment as required.
  • Demonstrate awareness of chemical safety and associated hazards.
  • Follow instructions with limited supervision.
  • Communicate operational issues, concerns, and improvement opportunities to the supervisor.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in a constantly changing work environment.
  • Contribute positively as a team player while maintaining the ability to work independently.
