Summary This role is concerned with the investment functions of Wasserman Ventures, the strategic venture capital arm of the leading global sports, music, and entertainment company, Wasserman. While fluid in practice, this role broadly includes the analysis, due diligence, and execution of venture-sized investments, the management of a portfolio of over 15 companies, the conducting of industry-specific market research, the management of internal process tasks, and general market-thesis development. An ideal candidate is one who is familiar with both general practices of venture capital investing and the sports, music, entertainment, and culture industries in which Wasserman operates. Wasserman Ventures As the strategic investment arm of Wasserman, Wasserman Ventures invests in companies adjacent to Wasserman’s core businesses. The group aims to accelerate growth for existing and new businesses by harnassing the resources and network inherent in the Wasserman ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Current MBA candidate with Spring internship availability.
  • Prior exposure to investing, strategy, consulting, banking, operating roles, or other high-level analytical work.
  • Adeptness with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong writing ability.
  • Genuine interest in sports, media, entertainment, consumer, and technology-enabled services.

Responsibilities

  • Investment analysis/diligence Evaluate inbound opportunities on an investment basis (problem, solution, market demand, differentiation, unit economics, risks, etc.).
  • Conduct due diligence across product, market, competitive space, go-to-market, and strategic fit.
  • Interface broadly with Wasserman employees to understand key priorities for their respective teams/verticals.
  • Support Wasserman Ventures’ internal processes including pipeline tracking and the preparation of investment briefs and presentations.
  • Produce market research and develop original theses around Wasserman Ventures’ core investment verticals.
  • Assist with portfolio monitoring and material updates (KPIs, milestones, financing events, product updates, etc.).
  • Prepare monthly portfolio updates for presentation to Investment Committee.
  • Manage commercial relationships between portfolio companies and other Wasserman teams.
  • Coordinate with internal Wasserman employees in relevant categories to ascertain industry perspectives on potential investments.
