SUMMARY: The Warehouse Specialist responsible for the distribution of building materials (primarily roofing and siding products) to residential and commercial builders and contractors. Requirements

  • Strong work history
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to move or lift up to 100 lbs., frequently
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • All applicants must submit to a pre-employment drug screening. Any offer of employment will be conditional on passing this exam. In addition, all those hired will be subject to additional drug testing as outlined by The Erie Materials, Inc. Drug-free Workplace Policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift experience preferred;
  • A valid driver’s license is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work with customers, managers and other employees in a team environment.
  • Read work orders/ invoices to determine materials needs for customer pick-up or delivery.
  • Lift and carry heavy materials, by hand, weighing up to 100 pounds, frequently.
  • Operating a forklift to load a customer’s vehicle, load an Erie Materials delivery truck, unload a vendor truck, move material in stock, etc.
  • Cleaning warehouse area(s) including organization of materials, sweeping warehouse floors and parking lot areas, emptying trash cans, etc.
  • Perform additional responsibilities, as assigned.
