About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Warehouse Supervisor, this position performs a variety of complex duties associated with the preparation, recording and maintenance of budget, purchasing, fixed asset inventory and monetary transactions within the Sheriff's Office Detention Facility. This position may interact with sentenced misdemeanors and minimum and medium custody felons (Inmate Workers) in a variety of duties associated with the Detention Facility and its grounds.

Requirements

  • In depth knowledge of inventory control good practices.
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, SAP system requirements for inventory ordering and product usage.
  • Knowledge of office methods and procedures, spelling, punctuation and arithmetic.
  • Knowledge of purchasing and accounting principles.
  • Knowledge and competency in the use of computer systems and software such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and the ability to learn any other appropriate application.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment, constructive feedback from others is encouraged.
  • Ability to analyze and summarize data.
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply general procedures to specific work applications.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain complex technical records, reports and filing systems.
  • Ability to enter and retrieve data from mainframe computer systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written English.
  • Ability to apply sound reasoning and decision-making.
  • Ability to operate computers and standard office equipment as required by position.
  • Ability to operate/use warehouse equipment (i.e. forklift, ladder, etc.).
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow workers, and the general public.
  • Ability to get along well with others.
  • EDUCATION: High School Graduate or GED Equivalent.
  • EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of clerical or accounting experience.
  • OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that satisfies the requirements of the job as approved by the Sheriff.
  • CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES: None.
  • Must be able to type at least 25 WPM.
  • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License.
  • Must possess CPR and First Aid certification within the initial status period.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of college coursework.
  • Warehouse experience, to include inventory control.
  • Experience with budget maintenance in a professional work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and coordinates the ordering, maintaining, storage and distribution of Sheriff's Office Detention Center supplies, uniforms, forms, equipment, fixed assets and Detention Center inmate supplies.
  • Conducts necessary follow up and tracking to finalize purchasing transactions.
  • Maintains computerized records of inventory and follows proper ordering procedures to maintain inventory levels as established.
  • Monitors, tracks, and verifies inventory levels for uniforms, equipment and other items as needed.
  • Prepares monthly inventory report.
  • Receives shipments, inspect for proper quantity and quality, and distributes materials or stores in proper locations within the warehouse.
  • Locates and corrects invoice/statement problems and reconciles with vendors.
  • Maintains recycled uniform inventory.
  • Prepares reports, memorandums and written correspondence to outside agencies and vendors including financial reports.
  • Performs routine errands away from the office.
  • Monitors and oversees inmates working in the warehouse.
  • Operates computers and standard office equipment including commonly used computer software programs.
  • Is committed to a high standard of safety laws and all of the Sheriff's Office policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.
  • Maintains regular and acceptable attendance at such level as determined at the Sheriff's Office discretion.
  • Is available and willing to work such overtime per day or per week as the Sheriff's Office determines is necessary or desirable to meet its needs.
  • Is available and willing to work such weekends and holidays as the Sheriff's Office determines are necessary or desirable to meet its needs.
  • Performs duties onsite, except those job duties that are customarily or by nature performed offsite.
  • Follows and supports the mission, values, organizational philosophies, operational principals, code of conduct, and policies and procedures of the Sheriff's Office.
  • Interacts effectively with others.
  • May be assigned other duties as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
