A warehouse receiver plays a crucial role in warehouse operations, ensuring that all incoming shipments are accurately received, inspected, and recorded. Their primary responsibilities typically include:
Requirements
- Attention to detail
- Basic math skills required
- Computer proficiency for inventory systems
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment (pallet jacks and forklifts)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work on a variety of tasks as needed
- Ability to work independently or with a team
Responsibilities
- Receiving Shipments: Checking and verifying incoming goods against shipping documentation, like packing slips or purchase orders.
- Inspection: Inspecting the goods for any damage or discrepancies and reporting any issues to management or the vendor.
- Recording Inventory: Accurately entering received goods into the warehouse's inventory management system.
- Labeling and Organizing: Labeling received goods and organizing them into their proper storage locations.
- Collaboration: Working closely with warehouse staff, including forklift operators, pickers, and packers, to ensure smooth workflow.
- Returns Handling: Processing any returns or exchanges of defective or incorrect items.
- Safety Compliance: Ensuring all safety protocols and procedures are followed during receiving and storing goods.
