Reporting directly to the Operations Manager within the Distribution department, the Warehouse Manager – Materials is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of materials and inventory within the distribution facility, including receiving, storage, internal movement, and inventory accuracy. This role leads the Inventory, Inbound, and Material Handling teams and oversees daily warehouse materials operations to ensure service, safety, productivity, and quality standards are consistently achieved. The Warehouse Manager – Materials partners closely with operations leadership and cross-functional teams to support inbound logistics, inventory control, labor planning, performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Visual Comfort & Co.’s operational and customer experience objectives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution environment
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and 8 years of experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or people-leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with strong coaching, motivational, and team-development skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, influencing, and decision-making capabilities
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience operating or overseeing powered industrial trucks and warehouse equipment.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to prioritize work, manage competing demands, and adapt to changing operational needs.
  • Proactive and safety-focused approach to work and leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability and willingness to work additional hours, including some weekends, as business needs require.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the daily activities of the Inventory, Inbound, and Material Handling teams.
  • Supervise Team Members and temporary personnel and coordinate staffing, scheduling, and labor planning in partnership with the Operations Manager and Director of Operations.
  • Track and schedule inbound deliveries, including ocean containers.
  • Communicate with carriers regarding inbound shipment issues, delays, and discrepancies.
  • Partner with internal departments and business partners to resolve inbound shipment and inventory discrepancies.
  • Maintain and track individual and team performance metrics.
  • Assign daily workloads, align team member skill sets to tasks, and ensure appropriate tools, training, and resources are available.
  • Investigate and resolve inbound and inventory control issues through root-cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Ensure the warehouse is maintained in a clean, safe, and efficient condition in compliance with OSHA regulations and company standards.
  • Maintain reliable attendance, punctuality, and on-site presence to effectively support team operations and collaboration.
