About The Position

The Materials and Warehouse Manager leads the warehouse team in all aspects of material handling, including the receipt, storage, picking, and movement of materials across multiple stockrooms. This role is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of inventory while managing warehouse, receiving, and shipping operations. The position requires close collaboration with Customer Support, Purchasing, Master Data, Accounting, Engineering, Operations, and Production to ensure efficient material flow and support overall business objectives.

Requirements

  • Data Analysis: Expertise in analyzing complex data, resolving discrepancies, and identifying trends.
  • Technical & Analytical Aptitude: Demonstrated ability to apply technical skills to resolve issues and drive improvements.
  • Business Applications: Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with experience in data extraction and report generation.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Ability to work effectively across departments, facilitating communication and solving logistics issues.
  • Inventory Management: Proven experience managing inventory, including auditing, forecasting, and planning.
  • Leadership & Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
  • Project Management: Basic project management skills, with the ability to develop and track action plans for resolving issues.
  • Problem Solving: Skilled at root cause analysis and driving corrective actions to improve processes.
  • Time Management: Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials, Engineering, Business, or a related field required.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in materials, logistics, or supply chain management.
  • At least 6 years of experience in planning, purchasing, or logistics within an industrial environment.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in a warehouse, parts department, stockroom, or shipping function.
  • At least 6 years of supervisory/management experience preferred.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently; move equipment and supplies as necessary.
  • Ability to endure extended exposure to computer monitors.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications (e.g., ISM, APICS) preferred.
  • Forklift certification preferred (or ability to obtain certification).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee recruitment, training, performance evaluation, supervision, and termination of warehouse personnel.
  • Manage employee time and attendance through Paycor.
  • Analyze part demand trends to optimize safety stock levels and storage solutions.
  • Provide leadership, development opportunities, and task prioritization for warehouse team members.
  • Collaborate closely with Production to ensure the master production schedule is executed effectively.
  • Develop and implement short- and long-term plans for warehouse layout, product storage, and 5S housekeeping.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives in the supply chain, warehouse, and material movement processes.
  • Identify root causes of issues and drive corrective actions through cross departmental collaboration.
  • Partner with key personnel to enhance operational procedures, improving accuracy and productivity at the item level.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor all key functions related to inventory transactions to ensure that they are accurate and timely.
  • Coordinate a cycle count program in a perpetual inventory environment.
  • Coordinate the cycle count progress and results to identify necessary recounts and processes to be monitored and provide regular reports on the results.
  • Perform thorough research and document inventory discrepancies using all available resources to identify root causes and supply possible solutions.
  • Coordinate the efforts of the cycle counts to identify and correct discrepancies on items at the location level as needed.
  • Contact and manager of inventory at offsite warehouse.
  • Maintain inventory integrity and lead annual physical inventory activities.
  • Manage and optimize daily warehouse and Shipping and receiving operations.
  • Achieve proficiency in the ERP system (AS400-based System21) and train the team accordingly.
  • Ensure the warehouse map and system locations are accurate and up to date.
  • Author and review work instructions and standard operating procedures to align with process improvements.
  • Track and input daily supply chain metrics
  • Track and input monthly finance charges at offsite warehouse.
  • Uses performance data and metrics to drive improvements
  • Plans and executes assigned special projects.
  • Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
  • Provide timely and accurate communication to production on component issues
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting of any safety issues or injuries.
  • Assist purchasing buyers in expediting products when necessary.
  • Assist purchasing buyers in tracking and resolving past due deliveries from our suppliers.
  • Coordinates and maintains Floor stock parts and set up locations
  • Attends Daily Gemba walk to ensure all part shortages are captured
  • Checks and verifies transfers to offsite have been completed accurately
  • Conduct monthly one on ones with team members
  • Perform cycle counts on parts with inventory issues
  • Verify and ensure blue cards are filled out accurately
  • Pull supply chain daily numbers for Daily Pulse
  • Performs transfers between stockrooms
  • Review and minimize shipping back log
  • Backfill for Team lead
  • Other duties as assigned.
