About The Position

The VAS Lead is responsible for overseeing special projects within the warehouse’s Value-Added Services (VAS) area, ensuring operations run efficiently, accurately, and safely. This role involves supervising temporary staff, managing workflows, and ensuring projects like packaging and labeling are completed according to specifications. Key duties include verifying incoming and finished products, maintaining accurate records and spreadsheets, creating and validating receipts and labels, and ensuring quality control throughout all processes. The role also supports inventory management, including cycle counts and space optimization, and helps monitor equipment use and workplace safety in compliance with OSHA and SQF standards. The VAS Lead acts as a communication link between staff and management, maintains internal communications, and contributes to performance tracking through reporting and time studies. The position requires leadership experience, strong communication and organizational skills, basic math and computer proficiency (MS Office), and knowledge of shipping/receiving operations. It also involves physical activity such as lifting up to 50 lbs, standing and walking for extended periods, and performing detailed, multi-tasked work under deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Labor Management: Ensure that the temp schedules are correctly implemented and that jobs are completed properly. Apply sound communication and motivational techniques in leading and supervising associates in shipper construction projects.
  • Operations: Checking incoming products into VAS for accuracy from the warehouse, Quality Checks throughout as well as checking the finished product once completed. Verify all product and finished goods against the paperwork.
  • Receipts: Validate accuracy and closing receipts, update order check for record keeping.
  • Labels: Create,Modify,verify, print labels for projects.
  • Communication: Control internal email.
  • Quality: Ensure inbound and outbound shipments into VAS are complete and free of damage plus SOW adherence.
  • Pre-operational inspections, microbial swabbing and VAS quality check & label reconciliation to prevent cross-contamination, reduce down time and validate that cleaning procedures.
  • Documentation / Records: Complete all necessary records and reports in a timely and accurate fashion. Compute and analyze daily, weekly efficiency metrics.
  • Inventory: Assist in physical inventories and cycle counts for VAS inventory corrugate. Ensure the optimal utilization of space. Rotate product as appropriate.
  • Equipment: Ensure the efficient and safe operation of material handling equipment.
  • Safety, Sanitation, Security: Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area. Assist in maintaining warehouse security and sanitation. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety and in accordance with OSHA and other appropriate standards, maintain SQF standard.
