About The Position

Mercury Systems is seeking a motivated VP Program Management for the Processing Technologies Secure Line of Business. The Secure Line of Business (Secure) is tasked with protecting mission-critical systems for our aerospace and defense applications. Our comprehensive physical security solutions, coupled with proven cybersecurity software, firmware, and hardware technologies, offer world-class defense for high-value technology systems deployed in mission-critical applications. This position reports to the Senior Vice President of the Processing Technologies Business Unit. The VP Program Management for Secure will be responsible for leading a dynamic business area that is accountable for developing, producing, integrating, sustaining, and modernizing mission capabilities that leverage the total capabilities of the broader Mercury business. This requires rapidly developing innovative solutions across the lifecycle that exceed our customer’s mission requirements. The ideal candidate shows up every day with realistic optimism and works within a high performing team that executes with a growth and integrated mindset. A “winning as a team” mentality that works with the other line of business peers as well as functional peers to be the highest performing team in the industry is a must. The candidate must have excellent oral and written skills with a “can-do” and “partnering” attitude within the company, suppliers, partners and our customers. The candidate must be able to communicate with C-Level and throughout the organization including product management, program management, engineering and direct labor teams. A candidate that enjoys challenging programs and leads the team to overcome those challenges to deliver results to the company, team, and customer is highly sought. The VP will manage a portfolio of programs of more than $100m/year delivering performance measured against the mission KPIs and long term financial and business goals. The position is accountable for driving business AOP performance and growth leading a team comprised of a matrixed workforce. The VP Secure develops roadmaps to achieve the business vision, executes our strategic plans and direction, leads change and improvement efforts, and focuses and motivates the program area teams to achieve and exceed established goals. The VP Secure is also responsible for establishing and building strong domestic and international customers, partners, and subcontractor relationships to sustain the business. The successful candidate will be a senior leader who is known and respected within defense and global markets, as well as the customer base of the Secure program areas. This person will be a role model of integrity, leadership excellence, vision, and collaboration and will successfully execute technically complex, highly competitive programs of significant scope. This person will need to manage experimental, development, production, sustainment, and services programs within the portfolio and stay current with evolving technology trends. The position is ideally based in the Northeast, at either our Hudson, NH or Andover, MA facility, and expected to travel and lead a multi-site team.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or business-related field is required.
  • Typically a minimum of 20 years of progressive experience in program/product management (with P&L ownership) preferably within the defense industry.
  • Progressive leadership experience managing a broad and expansive portfolio of programs and full life-cycle program execution to meet customer and business requirements.
  • Experience with Secure processing techniques and technologies in multiple domains.
  • Experience and understanding of anti-tamper, cybersecurity, and reverse-engineering techniques and technologies.
  • Strategic thinker with capacity to manage business complexity and focus the organization on the critical top priorities.
  • Experience leading collaboration across geographically dispersed teams to fully leverage capability of business and support functions.
  • Experience integrating regulatory, customer, political and market information into effective business strategies and plans. Successful experience developing and executing strategy for market and business growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish, maintain, and/or restore strong customer, business, partner, negotiate, and stakeholder relationships.
  • Successful experience managing change, building teams, developing leaders and mentoring others in a matrix structure.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. and International government procurement practices, prime contractor and subcontractor relationships, and decision points within the acquisition process.
  • Program leadership, financial management: P&L experience of a significant organization, strong risk management, and earned value management skills.
  • Executive Level ability to communicate, influence, and motivate a high performing team.
  • Must be able to travel as much as 30% of the time.
  • This position requires you to have a current government security clearance.
  • Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree, M.S. or MBA preferred
  • Solid understanding of U.S. and International government procurement practices, prime contractor and subcontractor relationships, and decision points within the acquisition process.
  • Possesses technical acumen; conversant and credible in discussing technical matters.
  • Ability to operate effectively and create bonds of trust and clear understanding of mutual interests.
  • Experience in naval surface, undersea, ground and airborne platforms, sensor and data processing frameworks, and associated technologies.
  • S. Top Secret Clearance preferred
  • PMP Certification
